My Golf 1.8T now running on LPG
Discussion
Went on holiday last week, left the car with a Chap in Alresford to have my MK4 converted to run LPG. Painless apart from the 1800 quid outlay but at 25k miles a year that should be paid for in about a year and far cheaper than buying a diesel to swap it with. So far it is all pretty seamless, car starts on petrol and after about a mile or so once warm enough it switches to LPG - you don't notice at all. Then that's it...
The 5% powerloss isn't detectable, I'd question it's even there... MPG I am unsure of until I have done a couple of miles v's fill ups but the MFA says 33. As long as it does more than 25 it's costing less than my old Passat PD was and I get to have the fun of a petrol engine!
Ok so some pics....
Dashboard switch and fuel gauge

New injectors and ECU ( next to the battery )

Tank in place of the spare wheel (59 litres but holds about 47)

And the only visual downside the filler.. but hey I can live with it for the cost savings!

So there you go, not seen another yet and probably not the most fashionable mod but I'm happy! No more MPV on the daily commute!

BRC sequential fitted by http://www.amsautogas.com/
I'd well recommend them too, chap there is plenty happy to talk through pro's and con's and tells it like it is, which is good!

I've raised it about 10mm
Have noticed the weight of the LPG tank has made the back squat a little again, no problem though..
Probably won't bother painting it, as the guy that fitted it said once you have clouted it with the filler gun it will probably look worse than not painting, besides matches the wheels
