Evening,

Does anyone on here have any experience of chipping the ecu of the VW 3.0d engine (Touareg)... read on the net that you can expect an increase in HP and an increase in fuel consumption.

Slightly worried that it might damage the engine?

Regards

Been covered many times in this forum. Increases power and decreases fuel consumption. Should not cause any damage to engine if done by a reputable company.

Mine stayed the same/slightly better. If you drive like a loon the MPG will decrease just like if the ECU wasn't remapped.

In many cases, remapping actually improves MPG if done by a reputable tuner as they will be optimising the fuel mapping and upping the boost slightly.

Give MRC tuning a call and have a chat with them.

Whatever you do don't touch one of those add on tuning boxes, a friend of mine had a Audi A6 with one on and the engine blew up on it! Luckily he took it off and a brand new engine was fitted under warranty.
