Can't comment on the newer stuff, but with the previous generation A4 vs Octavia, the A4 was dismal on practicality. Nowhere near as good as the Ocy, something to be aware of perhaps. Also the seating position in the Audi was terrible vs the Ocy or equivalent Golf, our A4 was the only car I've ever had (sold cars for over 20 years, so have driven a few) that I had to stop and get out of during a drive due to pain after 2.5/3 hours of driving.

Just to give the opposite point of view.... :-D

I've had A4s since 2010....B7..B8...B8.5....and then B9. The first three cars the seats were ok, nothing remarkable. but no issues with long drives either. The B9 had the sports seats in leather, and they were without doubt the most comfortable seats I've ever had in a car - Partly the reason why I kept it 6 years which was my longest ever. I could drive it 5hours plus and still be refreshed. In the winter with the heated seats on, I was so comfy and snug I often didn't want to get out of it at the end of my journey!

Replaced with a 2021 E Class, presuming it would take comfort up a notch....disappointed and shocked to realise that a trademark of Mercedes seats is their rock hard park-bench like qualities. It's taken me a year to find a seating position that's "okish" and I still ache like mad after more than 45minutes.

After driving other Merc courtesy cars in the past year, and seeing other car reviews, seems this is just how they like to make their seats...rock hard and park bench like! Seriously, what are they thinking!?
