VW UP TSi tapping engine noise

So we are looking for a small 2nd car and looked at a fairly clean looking UP TSi with 80k milies yesterday at a traders yard. On starting it was very tappety, it slowly diminished as minutes passed by. But it never completely went although it was considerably quieter after 5 minutes. I wondered if it was it was just sat for a long time, and maybe a test drive would resolve it. Not being completely certain I decided to come away and do some more research.

What do we think folks ?

Not as severe sounding I would say. Its like tappets can sound as they fill with oil. Is what I should have said. But it seemed to carry for longer that you would have thought. But it did start to get quieter, just not completely gone after a few mins. I wondered if a good run would resolve it. Or if it was something worse.

Could be overdue an oil change but tapping should usually go away after a few seconds really if it is the hydraulic lifters.
