Skoda DSG Starting Problem

I have a Scala with the 1.0 turbo & 7 speed DSG, 2024 plate.
Starting involves the shift being in P, foot on the brake pedal, then press the starter button.
However, I went to depress the brake but it was rock solid & therefore only the ignition went on & starter motor would not engage.
I tried tried several times, including getting out of the car & locking/unlocking with the keyfob; after several attempts the pedal movement seemed OK & the car started.
This has only occurred once, but I'm a bit nervous it might leave me stranded! Any thoughts on this? Random glitch? Gearbox issue? Something connected to the steering lock/immobiliser system?
The only other thing I can think of is weak battery, but that seems unlikely as the car is only 1 year old & all other systems, including central locking, are ok....
