Hi, I'm new here and hoping to find some advice or guidance. I recently purchased a 2019 Amarok. In the last week, I have had some water in the passenger footwell. I have ruled out the air conditioning system and, from what I can tell, the scuttle panel is working as it should - water is flowing out freely through a single large drain in the centre of the scuttle. I haven't removed the scuttle panel completely to inspect underneath at this stage since there doesn't appear to be a problem with it and to do so would involve removing the wipers. Has anyone got any experience of a problem like this? I have read that some cars suffer from water tracking in through wiring grommets but can't see any obvious offenders. Thanks.

Yes, still has the original windscreen. The water ingress is minimal at the moment - it appears to be coming from behind the glovebox area, biased to the nearside of the footwell. The single scuttle drain is centred on this model, so I suppose there is a chance that some debris has built up towards the left wing of the truck, but from my own testing that seems unlikely.

Genuine 'VW' windscreen could be a replacement, and you can't rule it out until you carry out a water test.

True. I wandered around it with several full watering cans this morning hoping the localised approach would help me recreate and identify the leak. No luck so far, but currently have the sprinkler on it so will report back.

Happily, but also unhelpfully, I’ve ruled out a rainwater leak - I had the sprinkler on the truck for an hour earlier today and not a single drop has found its way in. I think I’m back to thinking the a/c might be the culprit - I’d previously ruled that out after some observation but am now wondering if there could be an intermittent issue?

I’ve noticed that the a/c is quite noisy when it’s on - I don’t know if that offers any clues? The noise is a low volume, but medium frequency, whistle/wheeze and comes from the passenger footwell area. If I stick my head in the footwell I can also hear the a/c system draining after the ignition is turned off. Any hints or tips gratefully appreciated!

No sunroof fitted. Despite lots of testing and observation I've not been able to recreate the problem since, which is good news! I'm wondering now if it was condensation after all - may be some unique/unusual conditions existed at the time. The only other thing that is on my mind is that the a/c was recharged a few weeks before - I don't know if that could have caused it.

Check the Heater matrix pipes as VAG use a weird seal and crimp clip to connect these and I had my footwell in the Seat filling with coolant?

If it's this it should be obvious by the greasy nature of coolant v water.
