Any experience in adjusting the self levelling headlights on a 6.1 Transporter with LED lights? 18 months old and 12,000 miles, so not like its suffereing from age, but regularly get flashed on dipped, and read this today.....

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn71xyjpdl2o

with the RAC reporting more than 50% of their survey respondents say they now get dazzled by lights at night.

The headlights do their up/down routine at ignition on, so both are motoring. Its just like they need to be told to "level yourselves to this point, not to that point".

Appreciate there is a dedicated T6 Forum, but searches on that not being exactly fruitful, and thought I would ask here before going through yet another signup process.

I have them on mine, never been flashed to my knowledge.

I wonder if the level adjusters on yours have stopped working or are seized up?

I have air ride on my mine, I can see the headlamps adjust on the reflection of the vehicle in front when it levels itself.

Worth a quick read and then a look underneath your van.

Nah, nothing amiss there - All intact. And suspension totally stock. All the threads and posts I could find on the T6 Forum related to vehicles where the suspension had been modified, generally with complaints that the result was headlights that were now aimed too low. This is all stock, only 18 months old, the lights do their levelling routine on startup - Its just that the aiming point must be a little high as it annoys other drivers from time to time. Would be good if it could be set to be just a tad lower.

That's the point of the levellers, no matter what height you run at they should adjust accordingly. (within reason)

My old T6 with factory led's had a 90mm drop, I never needed to adjust the lamp levels at all.

My new T6.1 goes from a high of around +60mm to a low of around -60mm, again not needed to adjust mine at all.

I think if the level sensors are damaged then there's an error code, something like open circuit/short circuit.

If you were to line your van up adjacent to a wall, roughly mark where they are currently aiming at, then got a couple of people in the back and check they actually adjust downwards?

There are two adjustment screws on each headlamp unit to help fine tune.

Or a local VAG independent that does mot's would probably check and adjust for a few quid.

Not really any further forward on this. The link on the Transporter forum requires you to be a "VIP Member" before you can access it. frown Your reply did give me some ideas on how to re-word the search query, and this has come up with some procedures on adjustment, alas, all of which seem to relate to aftermarket lights, mainly supplied by Transporter HQ, and these do not match up with the OEM lights I have here. May get the inspection camera down about in there later to see if that shows up any hidden adjusters that are not visible without it.

May be worth getting them checked at an Mot place, its probably normal as on my journey to work at 5 am in poor conditions I swear most of the cars coming the other way look as if they have full beams on.
People used to flash me all the time when I fitted osram nightbreakers to a car and they were standard halogen lamps.
