I've had my 2023 S6 Avant since new and plan to keep it. It's just coming up for its first MOT, is on 56k miles and it feels like the last of its kind; the only other similar offering now is the Merc e450d which is great but a bit bloody pricey yet doesn't really offer anything more and in some areas (being fun to drive, mainly) rather less.

I do think the interior quality isn't as good as the C7 model A6s, but other than that I've been very happy. I've seen plenty of reviews mention the gearbox being slow to respond but I've really not had any issue with that; I don't know if by 2023 the software had been updated but worth checking if you're happy with it.

First set of tyres last 30k miles, long term average is above 40mpg and servicing hasn't proven expensive with an Audi service plan. The Adblue tank is bigger than the ones fitted to C7 models so you don't need to fill it up very often; the main dealer should top it up at services so I've only had to add Adblue to mine once in 56k miles and it says it has 10,500km remaining.

One thing which is a rare option but I find makes the car so relaxing on the motorway is the adaptive cruise (Tour Pack I think it's called as an option). Having become used to it in a Volvo it was a necessity for me. There is also a bit of hard plastic on the centre console unless the £200 optional extended 'leather' is added - it's not even real and I can't understand why it wasn't standard. Otherwise options are mainly whether to go for the Vorsprung (all options fitted including pano sunroof which I didn't want - but is the only way to get air suspension). I don't find the ride particularly firm on standard springs with adaptive dampers, and since I plan to keep mine for many years, I think not having air is fine.

If you like a beefy diesel it's great, and surprisingly fun to drive if you're that way inclined.
