Due to a medical situation in the family, I'm standing to fully inherit an Octavia L&K the petrol one 1.8TSi DSG, with very low miles given its an 14 year...and absoluetly stacked with stuff. On the downside you never quite know what you are inheriting but I just sorted its low battery situation and I think most of the error codes it stacked up.
I really will benefit from the much lower miles car, my car is the Octy 2.0 TSi has some bigger maintenance due soon - planning to do myself but will prefer to take my time and enjoy nice weather for it though no hurry with the L&K, and summer coming have my classic convertible revitalised but I don't like testing that on too high miles with it being 24 years old now...
I have a difficult decision on my hands with 2 very very similar cars perhaps its a good time to sell a petrol vRS octy or not?
I think the 1.8T may be better on petrol economy, insurance and tax, although not quite as brisk throwing down the road...I don't want to give away mine tho ( not even 80k yet ), would I be better off keeping and cherishing both, maybe fettle the 2L into something a bit more purposeful ?
The L&K are much more upmarket sort of alcantara and fully electrically adjustable + heated, a bit old man-ish to look at but more aimed at comfort ?
Performance variant seats, fabric ones aren't nice on standard performance variants on this year but they are a few different types so very much depends what you are looking at - the diamond style ones are pretty nice on the vRS I find.
The ones on my existing car are full leather but more like pleather I'm sure - they aren't to be compared with anything like Recaros to be honest but I find them good enough?
Probably not as much bolster as some performance variant cars but its a trade off car anyway, how many of those other cars can you get chaise longue and recliner sofas in which I know I have in mine.
The L&K seems to be a different beast to mine, just cruises along very nicely - like a new car at 20K - with crazy good mpg which is perfect right now - I got 50mpg on the way home (wife leading the way ahead to make sure she got back ok too).
Definitely going to be good to give me more than a little time to focus on works for my car.

Thanks for the suggestions.
No Pano roof so no leak worries there !
Also as I understand it may be the DQ200 which comes without intevals unlike the vRS so that's not bad. Just needs a bit of a service at the moment before I get it on the road, its calling for one and not sure when he last did one.
They are definitely chalk and cheese cars:
The L+K is a cruiser, with 50mpg ain't bad. 40 max with the vRS !
The L+K has all that front sensor stuff fully loaded too, so it does full adaptive cruise control and a lot more, slows you down with cars in front and I think it automatically brakes too.
Whereas my vRS doesn't even have basic cruise! Just satnav (the basic one but I prefer buttons anyway), tow, leather seats and canton.
My father was always impressed with its performance, but I doubt this 177bhp or whatever it has standard will come that close - true point thanks for that.
Its a manual petrol vRS so I think thats definitely more of a full driving mode car - but still a compromise car it won't have the full balance of some GTi's but could be made better ? - sure fair idea.
Could do with more driveway space or finding a way to get my other sports car into the garage instead of under a carport !
Shouldn't grumble about having too many cars though, except when having to move them...
