I suggest you look at Pete Wiggins dash replacement (petegriff on this forum). He sells a very high spec dash that has the original tvr weaknesses resolved (like dodgy switch mounting) He also has different options like LED package and lower dash kit. Fitted mine last year over a weekend and very happy.

Afternoon all,

can only 3rd the praise for the "Pete Wiggins" dash...

Took most of Easter to get the old "basket weave" dash out, stripped of instruments, then everything built up and tested in the new walnut dash... Only got 1 connection wrong, seems that the green "indicator" LED in front of the driver is polarity sensitive...

However, attention has now moved to the matching heater panel...

I've removed the knobs (1 mm hex key) and the nuts and washers underneath, but panel although loose is still fixed in, The only clue searching on here gives is remove the whale tail... Is this the correct method?

Regards

From the bible...

To get to the retaining bolts either; remove the main dashboard and reach underneath. Or, lift up the transmission tunnel and reach up from underneath. Or, lever out the window switches and reach them through the holes.

That's embarrassingly simple... redface

I've got both versions of the bible as well. I sprung the switches out last night, didn't really peer down inside too much...

will have a look later...

I was advised when I wanted my dash re-veneered to use the existing dash as to use another may not fit as perfect as the original in my car.

Hi JT - re-veneering your existing dash is always an option and many owners go down that route. The only problem is the age old perpetual Griffith Dash issues will always come back to haunt you, i.e. delamination and cracking of veneer due to expansion and contraction of metal panel and flimsy nature of it, switches falling out on 500 variants due to being stuck in, potential of gauges to fall out! I spent ages re-engineering the design for my Griff prior to making it and since then (2014) have helped many fellow Griff owners. There can be variations in profile, I have recently made some minor tweaks to account for this, but in general the profiles I have developed seem pretty good. About 100 happy Griff owners to date! Have yet to develop the last SE variant though, have one precat type and three 500 variants. Have also made piano black finish, swirled aluminium and brushed aluminium, all in the laminated design concept.
