Griffith Hazard Warning lights dont flash but stay lit
Discussion
Hi 1995 500 Griff. I have been carrying out a major re wire and new alarm / dashboard.
When replacing Dash the Hazard light switch broke on removal. I ordered a new switch.
Symptoms. When all 4 wires are connected to the hazard switch and you operate the switch. The switch warning light comes on. But the hazards and the switch light up but dont flash. They stay perm lit. If i remove the 2 wire connection with the green wire with white tracer the hazards flash ok but the switch warning light does not light up. Reconnect green white wires and remove brow black wire hazards flash as they should but switch does not illuminate. Does anyone have a dash out at the moment and could check the wiring colours. Switch is labelled Terminals 1A 2A 3B 4B. The bible diagram shows only a perm live feed to the switch and an onward connection to the Hazard relay which is used to connect both ns and os indicators together. I have tested the diodes which are ok. Replaced the indicator flasher ( indicators work fine) and the hazard relay with replacements from Racetech. Currently my switch wiring is 1A Perm live feed red wire/ switch 2A Black and brown wire/ 3B also a black and brown wire 4B 2x green white wires which go to the Dash repeaters. Any assistance or ideas gratefully received thanks

This caused me some confusion but these pictures should give you the connections you need. Note the raised moulded divider across the back of the switch, you will have the brown/black and two green/white wires on one side and a red on its own on the other. I don't think it matters which side of the divider the wires go as the switch is symmetrical inside. Hope this makes sense.

You may of course have a faulty switch, they are fairly low quality and I am now on my third because they wouldn't stay latched in.

I've got a similar problem after taking the whole dashboard out.
When I've reconnected the battery the hazards flash for 20 seconds then stop, then a minute or so later they start again.
When they're not going on their own if i try the hazard switch all indicators come on but don't flash. If I try the indicators they work fine.
Any suggestions how i should go about tracking this issue down?

Could be two problems, one at a time as one may solve twoWhen I've reconnected the battery the hazards flash for 20 seconds then stop, then a minute or so later they start again.

Hazards flashing when connecting the battery is often found to be caused by an alarm unit, an alarm unit will often sound a siren for a given length of time and flash the LH/RH indicators at the same time, if the siren is faulty or has been disconnected it is difficult to know that an alarm unit is fitted and wired
Alarm units often arm when connecting a battery
Hi I did eventually resolve my issue.
I had connected all 4 cables to the Hazard contacts on the switch.
one of the black and brown wires should not be connected. as shown in the photo.
Also the replacement switch i had ordered was faulty.
I ended up taking the old switch apart and cleaning it. I ended up using that and all has been ok since.
Although i don't think i have used the hazards since the last mot test.

I think I must have noticed the spare wire on the back of the dash on the work bench and put it back on the spare spade connector next to it thinking it had slipped off when in fact it was never attached before (and wasn't supposed to be) so not so much of a fault as me correcting my previous mistake!
