20AFM in a Griffith - help!
Discussion
I've just finished fitting a larger 20AM and some larger injectors in my Griff. It was supplied by Mark Adams together with respective fitting kits and a new Tornado chip for the ECU.
It's all fitted and the car runs and idles but I can't drive it because... the bonnet doesn't fit over the AFM wiring! With the AFM sitting flat (identification plate is horizontal) and lining up with the lugs on the original inlet pipe mountings, the wiring connector sits far too high for the bonnet to close. It's a good inch away from closing the bonnet
The only photos I can find are of a Chim which has the AFM mounted in the same way as I have. Presumably the Chim bonnet has more clearance.
Has anyone got a 20AM in a Griff and if so, can they describe the orientation of the AFM and wiring? If not, I'll have to wait until I can call Mark on Monday.
Thanks!

Here’s a picture of my previous 20AM which only just fitted under my Griff’s vented bonnet, Jools suggests using the Jaguar 20AM as the location pin rotates the 20AM connector down towards exhaust.

I thought you’re running a 4.6 Thor (Bosch 0280 218 010) Hot film sensor like the one below which I recently started running although I haven’t finished the anchor bracket. I switched to the Bosch AFM as they are available new from your local goodies store like Eurocar Parts and will be available for a long time as the internal sensor is commonly used on BMWs of the same period, plus the electronics are enclosed inside the cool intake airflow.

I may be way off beam here, but having been supplied with a Tornado chip, I think you might find it is good, but a best estimate. If you feel at all that the running is not perfect, may I suggest you take the car to Jools and have it precision mapped to your exact set up. I did, and have never regretted it.
Thanks for all the info.
I managed to rotate it 90 degrees by cutting a new locating slot into the lower bracket which still allows me to use the original fixing in the wing. I also needed to put two additional grooves in the AFM flange for the hooks to locate.
The electronics are now somewhat exposed to the exhaust so I might acquire a heatshield. However 20AMs are pretty plentiful so I might see how it goes - the original 5AM managed for 23 years.
To answer the other point, I will be booking another rolling road session with Mark Adams to fine tune the Tornado chip.
Thanks again!
