Griffith 500 Upper windscreen seal Help
Discussion
Hi Just got my car back from a full respray.
I had ordered loads of bits during the repaint.
Today i removed the outer upper windscreen seal. The one that goes along the top and down the sides of the windscreen.
I had ordered a replacement seal from TVR parts TVRV0150 3 mtrs.
When i offer this up to the windscreen for a trial fit. the thin curved section which is supposed to go over the outside of the
Windscreen by about a centimetre does not even reach the edge of the glass.
Comparing with my old seal the curved lip is much shorter on the new seal.
TVR part advise they have sold lots and no one else has had problems.
To me the original seal looks more like TVR V1097 which is listed for a tamora.
Has anyone used this seal or had issues with it?
the link below shows the end profile of both the old and new seal.

The seal used on my windscreen was TVR V0150 - I have the bag with the left over bit here.
It doesn't quite overlap on the body section as much as the old seal used to do - witnessed by a bit of paint missing from when it was resprayed.
And apart from the pigs ear the fitters made of the top corners it does seem to fit OK.

Hi Thanks for the update.
just tried my new seal again.
The pigs ear bit that is supposed to overlap the front of the windscreen does not even reach the windscreen edge.
Its almost as if the screen is too small or its been fitted too low.
Will take a trip to TVR spares next week with old and new trim will take a look at TVR V1097 which looks similar to my original.
Supposed to fit Tamora and Sagaris.
No idea if my windscreen is original or a replacement. There is shed loads of Black screen glue all round it with trim removed.
Strange with the amount of glue how water is able to get into the laminate!!

Hi thanks for the updates.
The Tuscan seal is part TVR v1097.
I am going to order this as it appears my car was fitted with this at an earlier date.
The Griff seal only just reaches the edge of my screen and all the screen edge imperfections and water ingress marks show.
I will go visit the Spares shop next week just to check the profiles.

Should have TVR printed on the glass. If it says Safevue it's definitely be a knock-off. Strange with the amount of glue how water is able to get into the laminate!!
Muotolasi is (was) the OEM for this IIRC; has since been acquired by Saint Gobain (which is the best glass/windscreen manufacturer in the industry IMHO).

TVR OE emblem with Muotolasi OEM motif. Old stock
A note on the profile of the new trim you have bought. Some trims need fettling; often the windscreen needs to be 'set' to where the trim sits (remember, it's a Trevor!). If there is cured urethane on the windscreen frame this will need to be stripped back as it will not allow the trim to sit flush (it will when it its first splodged on).
