Griffith retrim colours
Discussion
My Cooper green precat currently has magnolia half hide and green carpets. I am planning on having it retrimmed at either D&C trimming or Central TVR but am struggling with colour choice.
I know I want dark green carpet probably piped/edged in green. I also know I want to move away from magnolia which I find too yellowy towards something more like parchment or a sandy colour.
The big problem with all magnolia/light leather is sunlight bouncing off the dash into the front windscreen obscuring vision so I am thinking of having the dash pod done in dark green leather. The issue is whether to have this carried on into the door surrounds too and if I do that what to do about the carpeted part of the doors as I am reluctant to use magnolia carpet there, I'd like to have only one colour of carpet everywhere!
This rather tasteful Griff retrim is a good starting point if I changed mulberry hide for green but I dodn't really want the magnolia carpet on the doors.

How do people feel about a green dash pod and a cream door surround?
Grateful for views and some pics of your green Griff interiors!

Brilliant replies chaps and very gorgeous interiors! Gorgeous Griff Beverley Grove!! Who trimmed that?
Keep the pics and suggestions coming. I'm starting to think that for it to work properly on a Griff you really do have to match the padded door surrounds to the dash colour. That means either cream or green door carpet - anybody got any pics of green door surround with green door carpet - worried it might be overkill!
My dream was always to be able to spec a brand new Griff 500 from new but for financial reasons it never happened so I'm really enjoying having some of the fun of that with my car which I bought in 1996, sold in 97, bought back in 98 and kept ever since!!

It's amazing how challenging it is actually choosing how to design the interior! It's not an experience I ever had because I bought my Griff secondhand 24 years ago. It's a cooper green car and so far I have decided:
Dark green carpets piped in green, embroidered with TVR logos in cream
Green leather dash surround
Door surrounds in green leather
Steering wheel wrapped in green leather
Handbrake and gear gaiters in green leather
Cream coloured seats and center console and side bolsters with contrast coloured stitching (green)
TVR logo embroidered into headrests in green
Green seatbelt covers embroidered with TVR logo in cream
I wanted to keep the door surrounds the same colour as the dash surround as they sort of flow together. Given I want to eliminate the issue of a light coloured dash reflecting into the windscreen on sun dappled roads then that means green. My concern is that creates a dilemma over what to use on the inside door panels. If I break up the green with cream then the choices are carpet or leather. I don't like the idea of cream carpets because the rest of the car's carpets are green. I'm unsure about cream leather on the doors because I actually like carpets there! So I have ended up with totally green doors inside and that's the area I am most unsure about!
I did find a blue Griff though where single colour doors looked good!

Great fun but kind of hard and an expensive mistake if I get it wrong!
Favoured colours so far:

You don’t have to put carpet on the doors. Quite common to see leather there now. So you could make that the same colour as the seats.
I specced a Chim from new. I carried the dash colour on to the door tops and around the back under the rear window.
The alternative creamish seat colour was biscuit.
It’s a bit less in your face than magnolia.
I did not have the centre bolsters contrast with the centre. It looks better IMHO.
It’s easy to get carried away when there’s so much choice.

ETA - missed swisstoni’s post, but I agree with him. Ours was spec’d from new with leather on the doors. Rubbish photo is all I have to hand...

I'm drooling over all your cars!!! Some really stunning Griffs here!!
Many thanks for the replies and you have convinced me that I am going to have leather on the doors in cream and not dark green carpet - it just looks so nice when contrasted with the colour on the dash and door surrounds.
I quite like this fluting on the door panel too:

Will see what they can do anyway.
Having fallen in love with the car all over again it's going to be hard saying goodbye to her for 3-4 weeks for the trim work. I've even dug out all my old TVR reviews in motor magazines from the loft and rejoined the TVR Car Club. Best of all I'm re-reading Roger Shackleton's masterpiece book 'the TVR Griffith Story'.
So far I have concluded that the best TVR Griffith reviews I have ever read were done by Peter Tomalin. He reviewed the Griff at launch in 1992 for Performance Car magazine with his piece 'Dark Satanic Thrills' which is a masterpiece at encapsulating the qualities of the car. He then revisited the Griffith 9 years later for Evo with a beautiful test on the same roads using one of the final 100 cars.
By the way I'm thinking of adding a Leven aluminium handbrake cover and push buttons to the dash. Are they even still in business/obtainable?

Leven were sold to PPC, but they then closed as well.Saxon
The buttons (or items very similar) appear on eBay periodically. There's a guy on Facebook making the gear lever surrounds, when his name comes to me I'll add it to the post.
ETA think it's Leigh Jones, but Amore sell the bits - https://www.amoreautos.co.uk/tvr-parts
Gear lever surround here - https://www.amoreautos.co.uk/parts/leven-style-gri...

It's good that there are so many ways to individualise Griffiths & Chimaeras.
I think the leather fluting on the doors looks great.
I'd keep the tunnel & arm bolsters the same colour.
I'm not keen on the ali gear surround - looks a bit DIY to my eyes.
Anyway, each to their own.

Yeah, it's funny how we all like different things. It's good that there are so many ways to individualise Griffiths & Chimaeras.

I'm not a fan of the fluting
I like contrasting bolsters
I like the ally gear surround as it breaks it up a bit
It feels like ages since this whole thread started but I'm happy to say we're hopefully on track for collection on Friday from D&C Trim. After several weeks away I'm desperate to sit in it again! Trim work is now finished but it's having some mechanical fettling done while up there too!
Anyway here's a few updates the D&C boys sent - top blokes to a man!
