The general consensus from most veterans is that you don’t need the extenders as they can cause random misfires or running problems and that they are an unnecessary link in the ignition chain. There are some very long threads found on pistonheads you can search out but in a nutshell it’s generally agreed for reliable smoother running change spark plugs to heat range 6, use standard R/Rover leads either a ceramic version lead or standard leads with socks.
Angled plug leads are better as they take the boot away from the manifolds.
Straight leads will tend to contact the manifolds and even with fancy protective boots will still burn.
I tried straight fancy leads with the best protect a boot on my Chim and they still burnt the lead, I now use angled leads bought from eBay seller Mr retro plugs and leads.

There were a lot of fake extenders around in the last 5 years. I had a new set fitted which turned out to be fakes - six failed over the next six months, causing much irritation and messing up one track day and one sprint day.
I must add that they came from a proper TVR source, not EBay.
I am now on no extenders, angled ceramic leads and BPR6 EIX plugs.
Car is a TVR Singer, as it runs like a sewing machine.

Likewise I bought a replacement set a couple of years ago from a reputable French supplier "Genuine Beru 302" ventral plug extenders. They didn't last a year before they where all cracked and arcing. I suspect they're just not built to the same specification as the original ones. I guess they have an easier life in an opel Vectra/ vauxhall cavalier. I too have gone with cranked HT leads although I also got some that are recommended on this thread that got toasted no my manifolds.
