Early precat Griff fuel tank sender?

Hi folks,
I'm in the process of trying to get my fuel tank sender replaced or repaired as it's faulty. Apparently mine is a side mounted one and TVR parts seem to be out of stock of anything that mentions early Griff and side mount.
I'd be grateful if anybody has any suggestions for a supplier or has managed to make a universal one work. It's a pain having to keep track of mileage in order to tell how much fuel is left! Also if there any any pics of the appropriate unit I would be grateful! I did read somewhere that the sender in early Griffs is the same as the one uesed for the S Series which would be logical as they were manufactured at the same time. That one is in stock at TVR parts - does anybody know if it works?

If your sender is the same as the "S" series one on TVR Parts then it is worth trying to mend it.

The sliders can loose tension so no longer contact the track, also with the S one being open the tracks can get dirty.
Give the tracks a very gentle clean with Iso propyl Alcohol or meths( the tracks are generally very thin) and check with a multimeter that the sliders are contacting the track. If the sliders are not making contact bend them very carefully so they do and measure again. Not guaranteed to work as the tracks may be open circuit but worth a try.

Don't know what is happening with your fuel gauge but, it's worth dismantling the sender if possible to do, sometimes they're only held together with metal tabs
There's a possibility that the wiper isn't contacting the resistive wire, a little bending of the wiper to add some pressure often works well
