Single din stereo?

Im looking to replace the stereo (which I think is the original Pioneer) and fit something that is more efficient and up to date for cds and possibly phone connection. Im not massively electrical.... advice on what and how would be gratefully received. Im not looking for major bass beat boxes something sleek and smart and complimentary...Any recent changes people have made with photos most welcome also. Thanks guys.

I've just had the Pioneer SPH-10BT which for the money does everything you could wish, streams Spotify, speaking navigation and calls using your smartphone

Similar to the above, I've just fitted the SPH-20. An update on the 10 and includes DAB radio which actually works. I have fitted a small additional aerial behind the carpet in the passenger footwell. Very happy with it so far.

BTW I don't think telephone calls on the go are a realistic possibility in a TVR!

Both this and the SPH-10 include a slide out cradle for your phone which you use to access a majority of the functions - only basic functionality available without. If you fancy this idea it is well worth a look.

Actually I can have Bluetooth phone discussions in my Griff ok, at least with the roof up (or at town speeds with it down). I mounted the little microphone on the top right hand corner of the steering column shroud; it seems to be well enough out of the wind there but is still pointing at you. You do have to raise your voice a bit, but it does work!

I also pushed a new amplified radio aerial up inside the bottom of the left hand windscreen pillar. Sadly this still doesn’t work that well but I’ve not gotten round to trying it elsewhere.

I was looking at the halfords one for my wedge.do you have to put the phone on the bracket or is it just bluetooth. Colin

It's bluetooth or wired so you don't have to put the phone in the cradle if you don't want to.

I've been using it in the cradle so I can simultaneously:

1 - charge my iPhone via the cable
2 - Stream Spotify playlists over Bluetooth (or via the wire if you prefer)
3 - Have satnav running and directing me with the route on the iPhone screen and talking to me via the door speakers

It's a good bit of kit for £109

You can adjust the illumination colour to your personal preference. Perhaps get it to light up silver?

The DAB version (-20) is about an extra £30. I'm using a cheap 12" adhesive aerial which should be earthed (but isn't as yet) I picked up off Amazon. It is resting behind the carpet in the passenger footwell and happily picks up BBC and Classic just fine (SE of England) - well worth the extra!

Noted re Mr Grooler's success in making calls! Have to confess I haven't actually tried as have had zero success with the voice recognition! But this isn't a big issue.

In the interests of full disclosure, mine is in a Tamora, not a Griff!

I was reading the manual this morning (beats actually listening to the driven on the Teams call I was on lol) and I believe it uses the voice recognition application on your phone rather than having it inbuilt in the head unit. Does voice recognition work on your phone? It worked ok when I plugged my iPhone in, but its still easier to just find the music manually!

Just fitted mine.looks great.may take some time to get the hang of it.only problem I can see is it wont hold the phone if it's in a flip case

Another vote for the Pioneer, excellent value, can't hear the radio or phone when driving and use it mainly for the navigation.

I’ve currently got a Kenwood bluetooth unit with the mic fixed on the left side of the steering shroud and I can also confirm the phone is useable as Mr.Grooler suggests & good enough to ask the wife to put the dinner on.

However, I don’t have anywhere to put my phone so this Pioneer SPH-20BT sounds ideal, but can any Griff owner please confirm if you can read the phone screen with the roof off or is their too much light refection on the screen.

Not exactly what you asked but you can read an iPhone X absolutely fine in a Tamora with the roof off.

The holder swivels so you can choose between portrait and landscape. I prefer landscape but not all apps support it.

I too have just got a Sph10bt and its really good, i will say the sq isn't as good as the nearly 10 yr old alpine but then a tvr isn't going have a great sq environment anyway.
