Discussion
All the 4.3 heads were extensively ported and had double valve springs to work with the Kent H214 cam.
The Vitesse-spec std valves should have waisted stems also.
There should also be circular grooves around the combustion chambers for fire rings to bite into the originally specced copper head gaskets. Even if the heads have been skimmed once or twice the grooves would still be visible.
Incidentally, the copper gaskets were the same thickness as the modern multi-layer ones so the 4.3s are the only pre-serp engines where you can use the current spec head gaskets instesd of tin one without losing about 0.6 compression ratio.
