Access plate?

Does anyone know what this plate beneath the AFM is for? Probably for access, but what to?

I don't have one?.. did see it on your pic before and wondered what it was for myself??..Does your year have a blower in the inner wing??

No I don't either. I wonder if it was something to do with a LHD version?

Could you take it off to see what's behind, or is it sealed with sikaflex?

I have one on my Chimaera just the top of the heater nothing behind it interesting.

It got the better of me so I had to undo it

Not had the cover off on my Chimaera but I'm told it provides access to some unions on the air con system. I hope it does, because even with dye in the system I haven't yet been able to find the leak that leaves the system unpressurised in the space of two weeks!

The pic. is not of my own car but one I found on Pistonheads to use as an example. My car doesn't have air-con, nor does it have a blower motor in the wing (would be on the off-side anyway). How does the wiring harness reach the front of the car, could it be for installation access?
