Hi - Can anyone help with a supplier for the rear internally lit number plate ?.
I'm assuming its not just a standard perspex job from Halfords.
Thanks

You need a translucent plate try http://www.fancyplates.com/constructor.html and go for the TVR backlit option in the dropdown menu.

You need to complete step 1 and enter your number plate details, select font etc.

Then select Step 2 you then have the option to select the plate styles. Go to Back Plate, click on the drop down menu and TVR Back-Lit is an option.

Bought a set of plates from Fancyplates year before last. Just the job! I also upgraded the festoon number plate bulbs to LED type and fitted some sticky backed aluminium tape to the back of the number plate recess, really improved illumination, looks great also! Rgds, Pete

Pete, could you post us Griff-fetish-lovers some nightly pics of the illuminated plates? I am currently trying to order them with Fancyplates as well and would love some "inspiration"

Is it very difficult to show me how the plates are mounted to the car? I have a LHD-mainland car where they changed the numberplate-reces to a tilted metal-plate system, so i have to modify something back..... (and have no clue how you UK-peoples numberplate-reces internals look like......

Thanks in advance..... Car is with the paintshop-boys, so if it is havy modifying, i should preferably do it now..... ;-)

This shows the UK number plate 'backlit' style mounting. Normally the plate is stuck around the rim with sticky pads but the problem with this is that if the plate has to be removed quickly wink it's difficult to get off. That's why I have screwed my plate on. The brackets are made of Perspex to prevent shadows on the backlighting.

This is exactly what I did with mine. I actually drilled and tapped the brackets and used nice stainless countersunk machine screws inside one of the yellow plastic cap mounts. Also replaced the festoon bulbs with brighter white LED types. Regards, Pete

I suppose you glue the plates to the perspex brackets? If so, how do you remove them? (Let alone quickly....;-)

Well spotted! I screw the plate to the bracket with the proper yellow headed plastic screws. This pic was taken before the screw holes had been drilled. Number plate removal is therefore quick and easy. Can't mention here why you would want to move it quickly but it happened to me in a garage.

Thanks!!

To be honest i like the idea about the plate fitting "flush" in the back of the car and for me the screws screw up the "flushness"

I know what you mean with wanting to be there quick, but i have another solution for that problem ;-) (won't post it either....)

So i only have to be there when the LED's would die...... I'm willing to gamble that.....

Thanks for the clear advice however!!!!!
