Just has Wols done by London Carriage Craft as part of a general spruce-up.
Best part of £300 fitted but the result is superb. They did the heater panel some years back, that showed up how poor the original was, and the new dash is a perfect match for the heater panel.

Be interested to know where you got a dash done for £150 EGB
Mine is one the utility side now after I removed the clocks and fittings tonight ready for it to go for veneering.
I've got a price of £225 fro classical-dash
Burr walnut the concensus then?
I like it but like the OP I'm curious about alternatives.
I can say painting the dash kind of works but isn't much loved. Colour is important and if you can get it properly coded with the car i guess it would look best. But getting a decent finish is a bugger and it chips easily when you re-fit the clocks, especially if you have recessed pre-cat type clocks.
Mine is one the utility side now after I removed the clocks and fittings tonight ready for it to go for veneering.

from memory I paid circa £450 to have it all done by a garage ..... basically I dropped car off with knackered dash, and picked it up all done a few weeks latter... with new carpets and roof as well

she wan't impressed as she didn't get the Barbados I'm halfway through a 'Blue Peter' re-finishing of my dash. It would have been finished last weekend but I had to go to work and won't be back until the end of the month.
I used this stuff - linky - and for the money and effort involved I reckon it's really good!

Ian, there was a guy who supplied a reveneered Griff/Chim dash in exchange for old one. Fitting to be done by the owner. Unfortunately, it seems he has now disappeared.Mine is one the utility side now after I removed the clocks and fittings tonight ready for it to go for veneering.

TVR MADS use to do just the dash at circa £150; or dash and heater panel at £240. (Prices included VAT and p&p.) Your local TVR indy would charge 3-4 hours to change them over.
When we first started doing them we were doing 6-8 a month, but the last year or so interest just died and we've stopped. We have a half dozen '96 onwards backing plates in stock, so sorry to sound like an advert, if there was five-six people interest, we'd do another batch in time for the Cobweb Run or Chatsowrth.
