Hi
Paul the Griff Growl organiser has invited me and my collection and as many other wedger's who want to, to join in with the Griff Growl on July 4th to the 6th at Ettington Chase.
I will post up more details of cost and what's happening soon.
I have some info but will not post it up untill it's all confirmed, but if anybody wants to know more info before then, please get in direct contact with me or look on the Griff forum.

I've never been to the Griff Growl before and it would be interesting to see what it's like. It's very good of them to let us join them and very good of you to arrange it for us Andy. Also July is a good time for me. Let's have the details as I'm rather looking forward to it.

Hi Tony
I also have never been to the Growl, that is one off the reason why I agreed to organise the wedger's when Paul discussed the idea of Wedge's and the Griffs getting together at this year's Growl with me.
The Growl and the Fest are very similar in what is done. Some of it, I am yet to find out, as Paul has been away on Holiday.
What I know at present is!
For those who wish to arrive on the Friday the evening is done slightly differently.
The Griff owners usual get a mini-bus to take them to have a curry etc.
So we can either join them if there's room in the restaurant, or eat in the Hotel or go down the pub.
The Saturday follows similar lines to the fest but even more relaxed than the fest.
The main difference they always have more traders mainly because there are more cars than the fest, so the traders are happy to attend and of course more so this year as some of us are joining them as well!
They have the rolling road, a run out, they also do a concourse event and similar events.
Andra, Paul wife organises a raffle or similar.
The evening they usual have a BBQ and from there on I am not yet certain what they have planned to do.
With regard to the Hotel rates I still have to check on them, but they properly will be the same as this years Fest rates. Paul has reserverd a large number of rooms to accomadate the Griff owners and wedge owners who wish to attend.
On the Sunday they still meet in the car park and I believe some of the traders are still there and Griff owners who can't come on the Saturday come on the Sunday.
I am looking forward to the event as the Griffs and Wedge's are in my mind the closes TVR models, from the cars built in the later part of TVR's history.
As soon as I can confirm any more details I will post them up.

Great to see the TVR family coming together. Both the Griff and the Wedge are my favourite bodies of TVR, but I do have a fondness for them all.
I and I think others where though, under the impression that a joint gathering was a no goer???
Glad it is though as any TVR gathered for enjoyment can only be a good thing.
Hope it is a great event with cracking attendance and weather.

It was discussed with the relevant organisers but nothing came back and no interest was shown and thats why the Wedgefest is being held in June this year, When i spoke to the Hotel they advised me that they could not accommodate us at the Griffgrowl but could accommodate the Griffs at the Wedgefest, This was also to be of no interest. The Wedgefest is happening the 6th-8th June and the Griffgrowl is happening 4th-6th July, They are two separate events of two different models to which either are welcome.
Cheers...Ziga
Hi Mark
The reason why the chase told you they could not accomidate the fest with the growl was because Paul had already increased the room numbers he required to include any wedgers who wanted to go to the Growl with me. Thus there was no more room at the inn (Heard that some were before
)

In a way I am glad that there are going to be two weekend stay events that Wedgers can attend this year at Ettington Chase, as I am considering attending both. The Growl and the BBWF are almost one month apart which makes it perfect for two weekends away in each month. I am curious to see what the Growl will be like and the BBWF has become a bit of a yearly tradition. Who knows, now that Growlers and Wedgers are welcome in each others events, one day in the future it may become one big joint venture, and Ettington Chase may need to extend their premises as it seems to be the recognised base. Then, everyone will be happy.

I’ll admit to being a bit ambivalent to this. I thought that the BBWF (and maybe the other single model events) came into being because the TVRCC could not / did not want such things, preferring inclusive events, which is the prerogative of what is really a business now. Additionally there would inevitably be more bureaucracy with a TVRCC event, and undoubtedly there would ultimately be things like an entrance fee. Now that’s not to say that non-Wedges are excluded from BBWF, but if you bring a curvy car, you can park round the back
. I can understand the desire to combine events for purely financial reasons, but for me it also means a dilution of focus on the specific model in question.
As a slight aside, I think that Mark has put a lot of work into this already, including discussions here and elsewhere about a proposed combined event, which ultimately proved unfruitful. Now of course anyone is free to do whatever they wish with their car, but this does give a sense of seeking a combined event by the back door, which I really hope is not detrimental to the work which Mark has already put in.
Of course, this is all from the perspective of me having attended only 2 BBWFs, last year and the 2006 event, and not being overly afflicted with “shiny car syndrome” . Yes, they’re interesting to look at, but ultimately they are for driving.

Hi
I now have some more info on the Griff Growl.
The room rates are £75 per night for a double room and £65 per night for a single room and for anybody who wants a more luxurious stay they have some state rooms avaliable.
You can book your rooms as from tomorrow by ringing the Hotel 01789 740000 (Don't use the webb site as you will not get the discount rates ) and quote Griff Growl.
The format for the Event follow's a very similar way to the fest on the Saturday, with the evening meal being a BBQ. The main differences is on the Sunday when they continue what they were doing on the Saturday with traders, rolling road etc staying till around 3-4pm.
If you want any more info please ask or go to the Griff forum.
As of todays date (24/1/14.) there will be at least 16 wedges already committed to the event!
The Yellow Beast
350i's x 7
SX350
400SE
450SE
450SEAC
280i's x 4
It looks like a great event with some great TVR's and company.

Apologies if there was any ambiguity in my comments. AIUI, the BBWF came into being because of a wish to have a model-specific event, and such things couldn't be accommodated by the TVRCC. I know of no evidence suggestive of any conspiracy. Anything other than a model-specific event would inevitably lessen the focus on the specific model, whatever it is.Hi

I'm a bit confused, are you advertising an event on the be half of the Growl Organiser?. The only reason why i ask is , there doesn't seem to be Official announcement on the Griff forum as of yet.
Ah.. scrub that ,just seen it in the Events Forum.

Arguably just another opportunity for his collection of Wedges to be displayed and admired.I'm a bit confused, are you advertising an event on the be half of the Growl Organiser?. The only reason why i ask is , there doesn't seem to be Official announcement on the Griff forum as of yet.
My earlier comments about the dilution of focus applies. If I want to look at Griffs and talk to the owners, I'll got to the Growl. If I want to look at Wedges and talk to the owners I'll go to the BBWF (in my own). If I want to see a variety of different models, I'd go to a non-model specific event - maybe even one run by the TVRCC
