Nice day yesterday so took the griff out ....... literally for a spin!
Had a great drive until I lost it on a bend; back end stepped out and ended up 90 degrees to the kerb! Fortunately wasn't going fast so just damaged pride! Could have been nasty.
Bit scary, so time to invest in new rubber, not had the car long and tyres are Dunlop SP sports. Not worn,but they are 8 years old...previous owner didn't go far.
I like to use the car all year round so welcome any suggestions on good tyres for this type of use.

My car has standard wheels/tyre sizes so I don't think I can get R1R's but I do have T1R's.
Very happy with overall level of grip including wet weather grip. I find the sidewalls a bit soft for me so I will probably look for other tyres when these need changing to deliver better feel but the grip is fine.

I took my car to a local tyre place yesterday as the drivers side rear tyre was flat.
A tiny crack in the rubber was found between the tread and the side wall. You can actually hear the air escaping. Looked at the tyre code and the rears are almost 10 years old
I have ordered a full set of Toyos after reading lots of various comments on here.
I never thought to check the age of the tyres, tread is healthy so assumed tyres were ok.

If you're going for standard tyres and want max grip at a fair price, these are very good.
I've had the 2s but the 3s promise to be better.

Strange you should come up with Uniroyal Phazed, as I ordered a set yesterday! Nearly went for Toyo but I have had rain sport 2's on another car and they were excellent. The RS3 have literally only just become available in 16 inch in the size I need.....the review is also good so I get them fitted Saturday.
Let you know how they perform......I am guessing that they are probably not good for a track day but for my use, certainly in this current weather, they will probably save my skin!

I drive (on my 420hp Hartge Z3) the Nokian Z-Line, they come reasonable priced and are above my aspectations, very good, great grip in the dry and wet me thinks, and same/better then the more expensive brands.

way better, I guess also on a lighter car, the tires are not that hard/stiff so you can play a bit with the tyre pressure for comfort or sport also.

New boots fitted this morning. Rainsport 3's. £360 for all 4 fitted, including removal of locking wheel nuts......oops!
Advised to take it slow for first 200 miles but so far car feels much more secure. Less like driving a roller skate; I am sure that the old rubber had gone really hard giving almost zero grip. Steering is considerably lighter which is a benefit with my non assisted pre cat.
Anyway car is so much more useable, and I now have a better than 50% chance of getting home in one piece!

Just got some Toyo R1R's after some great reviews but not yet fitted. Very cheap from these guys:

Wear rate not great but the current Dunlops look brand new but are now 7 years old and rock hard so not getting the full benefit so suspect they will age out before wearing out.
Not the exact sizes but 205/50/15 on the front, 225/50/16 on the rear bit both only V rated so need to confirm your insurers are Ok with this.
