I think it's probably about right price wise when you look at the work it's had done.

But, if you don't know one end of a Griff from another (or your arse from your elbow for that matter) you're going to see the smallest engine of the Griffith range with high miles in a not brilliant colour (orangey rather than Alfa/Ferrari red) which has been highly personalised

Have to agree, the only less expensive one worth a possible look I have found, (and I have been warned that it is not a good colour combination.

If it were me then, for that sort of money I would look at the red 92 one that is more original with lower miles and £750 more at Tony Gilbert's.

I have my eye on that one as well, depends if you could get the first one at a price that would cover taking it back to original. Not sure about the ( what I suspect ) are protectors either side under the front nose cone.

Also, the boot on both of them is a bit off on the nearside. is this common.

I'm not to worried about the miles,I intend to own my TVR for at least 10 years and from my experience after a certain age mileage on cars becomes less of a problem when selling.

I think it's the lack of originality that spoils it.

Yes it's had loads spent on it but as a 4.0 it's a rare car so making it look like a tarts boudoir devalues it in my opinion.

But, overall that would be my best guess too.
When buying older models it's likely to be originality and provenance, originality and provenance all day long when trying to get top prices.

That boot fit on the £15750 one is particularly bad, I'm sure that could be realigned though, worth a chat with a TVR specialist bodyshop perhaps. Not sure what's going on with the lower corner edges of the nose cone, you can get the odd scrape on these areas from speed bumps.

One option I'd look for is full-hide, really adds a quality look to the interior.

Prices for good pre-cats seem to be on the rise, I see the 430BV at Fernhurst has now sold, asking price was £25,000.

The above comments are spot on, IMHO.
If I had 15 grand lying around looking for a home i would love to own it alongside my Chim - the Chim is my track day/loud noise car, the Griff would be my "cruising around town getting noticed, and having a laugh at car shows" car.
But as the Chim community knows, I am just an old tart at heart anyway.....

I don't think it's harsh, I know it's all down to personal taste but I'd lay odds if that had a less garish and more standard interior it'd have gone by now.

I've had three people email me to give them my opinion on whether it's a good buy or not all of them didn't know what to make of the interior. I'm no originality freak but it's just wrong for a 1992 car.

Nah, I think we are in the main in agreement.
I expect it's an attempt to modernise the look of the car that's gone a bit wrong; at least in our opinion.

The way I saw it; 'a less garish and more standard interior' could have been recommended for the majority of new TVRs.
I saw some terrible things when I spent my time in TVR showrooms doing my 'research'.
Men and interior design?

Also, if the seats could be replaced the old ones could be sold on to a TVR T350 owner to offset the cost. I suspect the fact that they choose a "softer" car than a Griff means they would love them

Just returned from Bristol Avenue and while I was there the guys from D&C Trim had a call from someone who has bought a Red Griffith 4.0 and wants to change the seats.......
