I was just refitting my fuel tank and there was a strange rattling from inside. When I looked in the tank I thought I could see a bullet casing; which started me questioning my car's heritage!
When I got it out, it's clearly not a bullet casing but what is it? It's brass and has a spring and a glass bead inside it.
I'm at a loss. So I'm hoping someone on here can tell me what it is.
Cheers,

Simon

Does the glass bit move? Look like a one way valve or a bleed valve maybe. What's the inside of the turnover valve like ???

..............................

Now I can see it on a big screen.. it looks like there is a spring in there too.. its some kind of one way valve.... smile

The glass bead is in the wide section, pressed up against the pinched end by the spring. The long thin end is empty.

Does said 'thing'ame-jig' have a purpose inside my fuel tank or did some careless muppet just drop it in there?

Looks like the 'What-cha mecallit' has come adrift from a syphon hose. Shouldn't be in there.
