Dash lights query

Thanks. Found the dimmer buried up in the dash. No joy despite turning fully each way. Time to take out the dash and check the lamps.
FFS - As said twice, the dash lights are not on a dimmer (that's the delay duration for the intermittent wipers and should be located on the side of the steering wheel binnacle) they are switched by a simple on/off button which lurks above your left knee under the dash.
(excuse me laughing)
Up under the dash where the red arrow is pointing...

And it's not rotary it's a push in/out. jesfirth said:
All the external lights are fine. The car is stripped for sprinting, I took 100kg off it then added back 40kg with a roll cage. The photos below will help explain why I can't find anything on a standard dash layout.
Happy New Year..........That looks like the passenger side/battery/ecu area?? You'll not find the switch there!!You've got to get yourself a multimeter and go from the dash lights themselves and see if it is just bulbs or you have "chopped' the feed off? Most of it above & infront of the gear lever/drivers side above you knees?? Bet you have chopped off the earth feed!!
Also work from where you switch the lights (external/headlamps) on etc? If you can't find a feed to the dash lamps, get some wire and take it from where you switch the headlamps on?
I aint rocket science Mr Firth???

Trev,
Happy new year to you too. I assume you are competing this year?
You are right about the photo. I tried to post one of each side by the size was too big so you only got the left.
I located the switch removed it and tested the cables. The power was there the switch had failed so I have just removed it and reconnected the cables and they work perfectly now. Not sure why anyone would want to switch off the dash lights anyway? Seems like a strange feature.
Thanks all Jes

Hi Jes, yes participating this year, but down-sizing the house (not the car like you LOL!!), so may get distracted if someone want's our house??Happy new year to you too. I assume you are competing this year?

The switch was there to reduce the discharge if parking (in the old days) at night and side lights required - guess that's not a requirement anymore? Some also like to have all the dash dark to drive quicker at night??
Glad it's sorted and see you in a couple of months - did you get Neil Garner to help you with aero aspects ??

Ok that makes sense on the lights. Have fun with the house.
The nitrons were in poor shape. 2 of the adjusters were clicking but doing nothing so they have all been rebuilt, I now have new heavier springs as well and revised geometry and finally corner weighting. Whether it works with the aero still remains to be seen. I guess I will find out at north weald!
