Pre cat rear bulkhead question
Discussion
I was considering removing the 6 x 9 speakers that were fitted when the car was new into the rear bulkhead panel, I never play tunes in the car and I took out the CD changer a while ago. Was going to glass up the holes and replace carpet as necessary, mine is black in the cockpit so should be easier to match. The question is, was there originally any form of venting fitted as on later cars, or just a solid panel?

Probably down to the usual TVR 'some do' and 'some don't' approach. But I seem to remember when viewing an early new pre-cat at a dealership that there were two circular open slated vents fitted (rather than the grill design on later cars) and these were approximately 5 inches in diameter. I also recollect having a discussion with the dealer about fitting rear speakers, his response was that TVR disapproved of the vents being removed as they were essential to cabin pressure/ventilation.
Looks very much like some had them, some didn't. This topic was also discussed way back in the mid 90s:

I know Steve Powell had a pre-cat K reg Griffith and was a stickler for detail. In the above link he seems to be posing the question from the standpoint of 'my car has rear vents what happens if you fit speakers?'. Both my pre-cats had speakers fitted and no vents but I bought both as used.
