Thoughts on having different tyre types front and rear?
Discussion
Evening All,
I've got after market wheels; 17" fronts and 18" rears. I need new front tyres, but have Falken 452s all round at the moment, but they can't be found anymore. The rears still have some life left in them.
So what are people's thoughts on having different tyres front and rear?
If I had a choice I'd have the same all round, but that seems to be a challenge. The only ones I can find in the correct size for both front (215/40R17) and rear (245/35R18) are Hankook and possibly Fulda.
Anyone got experience with Fulda tyres? They are German and from what I've read they have a good rep.
Thanks in advance of your opinions.

Whilst I don't have the bigger wheels you have my experience of different tyres front and rear on 15/16 estorils was not a happy one.
I think I had Dunlop on the front and Eagle F1 on the rear and the car tramlined terribly - especially on motorways - no matter what I did with tyre pressures or geo
When I changed the tyres for Toyo all round the tramlining disappeared and the car feels much more stable. No more of those little back end wiggles when crossing the centre point of the road which used to scare the hell out of my passengers.

Same experience here, and not one I wish to repeat. I have T1Rs all round at the moment on standard Estorils. I have some AD08Rs on order to try out. I will be replacing both the back and front even though the fronts do not really need doing.I think I had Dunlop on the front and Eagle F1 on the rear and the car tramlined terribly - especially on motorways - no matter what I did with tyre pressures or geo
