Anyone know how easy it is to change the wheel studs?

Do they need to be pressed out or can they be 'persuaded' out whilst the hubs are fitted.

I've bought some alloys and tyres which need longer studs on the fronts.

My Griff is booked in for a service on 7th July and I was going to get them done then but the wheels arrived today and it's killing me not putting them on! bounce

Not sure what you mean but the wheel studs are generic Ford and easy to get hold of. I got some from a local factors, you can get short and long and some are open or closed at the ends.
Pic of the wheels may help here.
PS what you doing with the OZ's. You going to Wellesbourne Sunday as I can bring a selection along.

Hi Paul,
I've already bought the studs as one of the Griff owners at WWM TVRCC has already done this change.........thanks for the free research Simon!beer

My question was really whether in can be done in situ or do the hubs have to come off?

I've bought a set of Lenso replica splits 16" front and 17" rear with Michelin Pilot Road 3 tyres fitted/balanced for £725 all in.(£10 for the TVR centres) I know the purists will be sick through their fingers but it made more sense to me and it does look great.....IMHO of course.

The rarity and originality factor means I'm keeping the original wheels but a couple of quotes for £800 to refurb them plus new tyres put me off doing it right now. I've read the threads on a DIY refurb but I'd need to retire to have that much spare time! biggrin

If you can see the studs you need some decent enclosed ones - there were some stainless ones for sale recently. If not you get the cheapo ones, although as you'll know on the OZ's you can get the long ones under the front but not the rear as the dish is much deeper, so you can probably use the same studs.

Mine on the griff just wacked out in situ, getting the new ones in was a bit more challenging!
