Hi, I took the outer plug and spring out of the pressure relief valve today, but I could not get the piston deep in the bore out! It wouldn't move but I also couldn't pull it out as there is no way to grip it at the bottom of the pipe!? How have other people pulled the piston out?

stick your little finger in the middle of it.. you can usualy pull it back... keep it as square as poss... if it sticks, push it back in a tad, then pull out again...
Why do you says its broken?... what the symptoms?

Long story, but gauge is showing no pressure after a top end rebuild. I've orders a new sender but have dropped the oil and sump to check things over, change te pick up pipe gasket, and thought it a good idea to check the valve too! Oil light goes out on cranking btw

A small magnet probe should extract the piston if it's ferrous.

If the pressure light is going out when cranking and/or running, you would appear to have oil pressure

Going to pick one up tonight from screwfix! Could do
With one anyway. I'm really hoping it's just the sender, sounds sweet anyway!

cant you just drop the plugs out and crank it over for a few seconds?- the oil pressure should push it out anyway- could be messy though.

Magnetic do dah from Screwfix worked a treat, just popped right out, all checked and it slides fins, spring was 60+mm long too and seemed ok, so just waiting on the sender now from TVR parts.
