Sticking throttle
Discussion
Hi Guys, I have a hard point in my throttle which is annoying the life out of me and u just can't find the cause, hopefully someone has come across this in the past. Travel is normal for about 1/4of an inch then extra pressure is required to get over the stiction, only problem is you look like a moron when the revs rapidly rise and you speed off or kangaroo!
I've lubed up the mechanism at the plenum, including the butterfly v/v inside and upon operation in the engine bay all is smooth, I've also removed one of the two springs which makes a slight difference but does not resolve the problem. In the footwell I have lubed the throttle pedal but none of this makes a difference!!
The cable was changed about 500 miles ago by a garage and I ensured it was well oiled before it went in, no kinks and it moved easily within the casing. Only thing I can think of is the position of the adjustable leven pedals which I am altering to see if there is some sort of cantilever effect (very long shot I know).
So I'm at a but of a loss chaps, do you have any ideas please?
Cheers,
BobGriff

Thanks for advice winston, appreciate what you are saying. May have got to the bottom of it. Looks as though the frame holding the throttle assy which is bolted to the plenum has been bent which has put an angle in the cable allowing it to rub on the outer sheath putting friction into the system. Straightened out and when the rain has stopped and the roads are dry I will test my theory and hope it's ok now.
