I know the door mirror is off a CX but what is the mounting from? the mirror casing and innards are fine but I cracked the mounting at silverstone last year. the parts I need is the grey metal sections that allow it rotate to be pushed in when parked but I don't think they are cx standard or are they?

Depending upon where it broke it may be possible to repair with a riveted on aluminium plate
TVR Parts Ltd list it as Part No. U0649

See also RG 120 Mirror Repair Plate, but most people make their own.

The whole lot is part of the mirror assembly. Also fitted to Lotus Esprit post 1987, several Aston Martin and Marcos models and the Jaguar XJ220.

Unfortunately, TVR mounted them with the shroud sunk into the door so the securing grub screw can't be got at in isolation. frown

The kit mentioned in this post completely solves the grub-screw problem and also shows you how to make a shroud.

I can recommend that kit. I didn't fit it though: I got Central TVR to do it when they painted my car. I recall that Andy (who fitted the mirrors back on) said he quite impressed with the results.
