Am hoping to pick up a 4.3 next weekend and I know that it will need some new boots soon. What’s the preferred tyre choice nowadays ?....it’s been a looong time since Griff ownership

Depends what you want to use it for. For roads rainsports are really good and cheap. Much better than the P0's I just took off my SLK. for track work I like R888R's but others also like AD08's.

Rainsport 3's seem to be all the rage at the moment. That's what I'm going to switch to next, seemingly extremely good grip dry or wet. Only downside seems to be slightly shorter life due to soft compound, but that seems like an acceptable trade-off for confidence in the wet...

If going for Rainsport 3 what tire size would be best with standard 15/16 wheels.Looking at the tire sizes available just not sure 🤔 what to go for

AD08R for me. I think they have the best combination of grip for track & fast road use. I put them on the Tuscan, the M3 and on my MX5s.

The 888s have less tread depth and are more of a dry tyre only imho.

Just put a set of AD08s on the Tuscan - Black Circles 4 255/35/18 for £600 fitted. I'd imagine 16s are a fair bit cheaper

I've fitted multiple sets of Toyo T1Rs to my Griffith over the years and I am comlpetely happy with them.

+1 on two Griff 500's over many years. I have found running slightly higher pressures (24F, 26R) than the original recommendation for Bridgestones (22F, 24R), gives the best compromise between handling and compliance/comfort for the road with Bilstein dampers and standard springs.
