Buying 18" Spider Wheels?
Discussion
Hi all, I'm looking to buy a set of 18" Spider wheels in anthracite, ideally with tyres, to fit a Griff. Could anybody recommend the best (cheapest!) place to buy these from please?
(If there are any gotchas regarding fitting these to a Griff I'd be grateful to hear them also please.)
Thanks in advance,
Andy

Silly question, aren't the T series (Tamora, Tuscan, T350) wheel 5 bolt, and the Griff (Chimp & S) 4 bolt? Aren't the spiders for the 5 bolt cars?
Mine has 4 bolt 17" TSW fitted by TVR Centre back in the day. Others had the factory hub conversion, intially to take the Tamora 16" that were available cheap as people upgraded to 18".

I wish - Racing Green list them at £230 front, £240 rear, wheel only. That seems expensive, but maybe it's just the market price for "rare" wheels?
I stand corrected! You could always give them a call and see if there'll do a deal
It might be market price as i guess there are not many made any more (if at all)
Maybe a breakers yard?
You will need a conversion kit from 4 to 5 stud to fit 18in spiders. They used to do a kit from germany I think including the wheels for 1200 but havent seen them advertised for a bit.If you desperatly want spiders I might have a set for sale soon, but if I was you I would find some 4 stud wheels to go straight onto your car as spiders are not the best made wheel out there.

Yes thanks, I'm leaning towards that now. Anybody got any recommendations for good Spider-ish 18" wheels available in the 4 stud pattern please? (I know, time for me to enjoy the unusual PH search facility again.)AndyGarton said:
Not a silly question,
Okay a further comment, a former RO in Hants (Woody) always used to have a few issues with his cars
- his Griffith had a set of bling wheels - I think it took him a few goes to get the offsets and dampers set up to avoid rubbing the fibreglass on the inside or outside of the wheel arch. It might be worth talking to someone who as successfully done your planned conversion. There's a set on fleabay complete with the 5 stub hubs you need, no bids, currently £445.

It'll cost about another £200 to get them re-furbed in anthracite but a decent re-furb should include crack test and straightening out any buckled ones. No good if you can't collect from Hemel Hempstead though.

I bought set of new 18" spiders, complete with Ap Calipers, larger discs (front & rear),correct offset spacers From Hans, he is a member on here & often advertises in for TVR parts section
I got the 5 stud hubs made, not sure of company name , but heres their number 017282333008. They usually make a batch up when they get a few orders.
Going to be fitting my wheels/discs over the next few weeks

Plus, you should also cost in a set of adjustable coil-over shocks like Nitrons so you can set the ride height correct and new brake discs and calipers because I can assure the standard ones will look tiny through those spiders. Reckon on about £1k for the shocks, £1k for the brakes and say £1.5k for the rims and tyres and you should see decent results for about £3,500.Forums | Griffith | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
