205 width on the rear is too narrow. It’s normally 225 or 245, depending on year and model.

Yeah I did query this with LK Performance...

Good morning,

No that is not correct it would appear that there is a small issue within our website, I have passed the details over to the development team and they will rectify it.

Many thanks

Is that a run flat tyre?

I wouldn't use run flats on a TVR. Too hard a side wall (for me).

Personally I'd look at the Continental Premium Contact 7 (from Continental) or the Uniroyal Rainsport 5 which is 98% of the performance but cheaper.

Size wise you may have to play with the width and side wall ratio to match things up - which is fine.

Happy to be corrected, but don't the Chimp and Grief have staggered offsets front (25) and rear (33)? Personally, I like the look of 16's all round so get a 33mm offset and add 8mm spacers up front.

The last models of both had 16" wheels all round. I don't believe they marked them as front / rear so the fronts will accept the 33 offset OK.

These were 7.5" wide however, so if you are fitting 7" wide wheels on the front, a spacer (as mentioned) would bring the outer edge of the rim out to 'standard', or it would sit a bit further into the wheel arch. Aesthetically, this may not be a big deal. scratchchin

So the set up for my Griff 500 is currently (on Estorils) wearing Uniroyal Rainsport 5

205x55xr15 FRONT 7Jx15
225x50xr16 REAR 7.5x16

The LK Alloys are

7.5J x 16
8J x 16

Any recommendations as to ideal tyre size?

Your selection of 215/45 x 16 for the front is close enough, only a 1% reduction in diameter from 205/55 x 15.

On an 8" wheel, a rear tyre 245/45 x 16 would be even closer to your originals, 0.7% less. smile

If you want to compare other options, this site does the calculation for you:

TVR themselves fitted various sizes as Z rated tyres became harder to source. The fronts were originally 205/60 x 15 and the rears 225/55 x 16. Later 500 models had 245/45 x 16 on the rear but this is a bit marginal on a 7.5" rim, outside the recommended maximum width with some suppliers:
