Afternoon All. I was out in the Griff on Saturday and I looked at the speedo to see I was doing about 140 when in fact I was only doing 60-65. When I came to a stop it was reading 120, ignition off and on back to zero then off to 120 again. Small deflection as the speed builds up, so still some function, and the odometer is still working. Reading the bible suggests that if the odometer still works it's not likely the sensor has failed so I think I'm looking at the actual speedo end of the system. Anyone come across this before? Cheers, Tim

Hi Tim.
When I got my car the Speedo was either all over the place or showing zero when moving. In the end, it died.
On the rear diff there's a hall effect ring. Speed sensor is bolted to a bracket and reads the ring etc.
The Speedo and rev counter are 2 sperate items. My money goes on the rear diff sensor.
They are available but not cheap and not much fun to fit unless the car is up on a lift.

My first Griffith used to add a mile on every time I started it and turned off. So back it out of garage and 2 miles added. laugh
