Just had Nitrons fitted and set to 8 clicks as a starter for normal road use. However it's like there's no suspension - every cats eye feels like the pit of your stomach just hit the floor. However the chap who set it up has dropped the ride hieght by some 4 cms which needs to be put back up. I guess this may be part of the problem.
Can anyone share what they are running at for road and what again for track days ?

have you tried adjusting it yourself? .. if not why not? (jk) .. you have adjustable suspension, amongst the finest you can get .. so why not play with it and see what happens ..?
I think you have three choices:
Play with all the adjustments and see whether it gets better or worse (it will be easy to make it worse).
Get a good book or three on car handlng and suspension setup and carefully and methodically adjust it (be prepared to spend months and years doing this!) to get it handling and feeling the way you want. The better you get at this the more you will want to make small adjustments as your needs change. I haven't quite got the point of changing the suspension setup for every circuit but sometimes it feels like that!
Find somebody who really knows what they're doing (Joolz for example) who can understand what you want from the car and translate this into a suspension setup.

Had my Griff fitted with Nitrons by Joolz. Car was set up for the track when I got it as I was going to Zolder the following day.The car is lowered( not sure by how much as have not measured but top of tyres are now almost flush with wheel arches).
Was set up with 4 clicks from max on front and 8 on the back.
On the road I was scraping the exhaust on speed humps so have taken the ride height back up 2 full turns on the spring seat and have set the dampers to 8 clicks on the front and 12 on the back. Seems to work well for me.

Thanks all for the feedback. I have it booked in next weekend for a setup session with Dave Porter - a specialist in the Midlands who fitted them.
As yesterday was one of the first dry days of the year and I had a few hours to spare, I thought that I would have a play first to see what happens - hence the question posted.
Thanks again

seem to recall you went pretty well at zolder too .. memory says second fastest but could be wrong on that alan .. correct me please ![]()
was the first track biased griffith kit i'd done so was pretty pleased with the result ...
I was 7th quickest with a standard set up and was unable to stay with Alan ..... I tried very hard, but couldn't get anywhere near !!
I am sure a great deal was Alan's ability behind the wheel, but you could see the difference in suspension ability on the track as well ....
Set for me too soon !!!

Yes. 2nd fastest in driving test and 1st in hill climb for 5 litre cars. Engine is standard but have Nitrons and grooved disks ( standard 5 litre diameter).
Somehow my fastest lap time was mucked up and they had me 16th and last in class with a 2.18
The year before I had done a 2.05 without Nitrons so know I was much quicker. Was holding my own with Tony from HHC in the T350. Car feels a lot more controlable in the corners. Before it was slow in fast out and don't accelerate until you were in a straight line. I can now adjust the car on the throttle mid corner. It feels as though you can drift the car. The grip isn't all or nothing as before. You can push the limit and still get it back. I was close to the limit at Zolder on my fastest lap and had to put on some opposite lock(never been close to the limit in the Griff before as I never dared).(Apart from the year before at Zolder when I did a full 360 at the end of the pit straight going into the first corner in the wet). The car now gives me a lot more confidence.
Whilst we are on the subject, do all Nitrons come with a certain spring rate for each car i.e. one lbs rate for the Griffith another for the Cerbera etc. or can these also be chosen by the customer? Reason I ask is that I intend to get them fitted in the summer (when my bank a/c has recovered from 10 month out of work) and as I have "bling-bling" wheels wondered if I should go for a slightly softer spring to those supplied for the Griffith as standard? Rich...
p.s. Obviously when I have the cash I will also talk to Guy and the fitters (great ame for a band)

with nitrons you *can* have any spec you wish, springs, stroke, and compression / rebound damping .. however when i spoke to guy the other day it seems I'm the only person selling TVR dampers who actually has them built individually to the customer's requirements .. everyone else seems to use off-the-shelf units and leaves it at that .. but i figure if the option is there for bespoke units why not take advantage of it? .. the cost is the same anyway, just you have to wait about a week for them to come through.
