Not normal in my opinion, white,/black is usually negative to tacho.

Hi, That's what I was thinking the same, but I could not work out why someone had wired the coil in that manner it is.

I've just checked my Griff, the + ve has 2 wires on it, one white and one black. Is that not one in the photo in the background black & white to the - ve?

I presumed that the 2nd wire is the feed to the tachometer, isn't it? Everything works fine my car the way it is anyway.

Hi Sixor8,

Many thanks for having a look yours, but on my 1996 motor the lower White with Black Stripe Wire just connects the positive and negative terminals together and appears to do nothing else. That's totally strange to me.

The Griff is now at Specialist, since it broke down a mile up the road from my house (first drive out!) - the good old AA did a Relay job for me

Incorrectly wired. Shot coil.
