Heater airflow issues
Discussion
The teeth in the little gearbox that moves the flap to direct air between feet and screen are stripped.
I'm trying to work out how to get the motor and gearbox out so I can replace or rebuild the cog, as far as I can see it is held on by two very small, very hard to get to screws. Is there another way to get it out or some trick I am missing?
Has anyone replaced the whole thing with something better?

Hi David, I was doing a similar job a couple of weeks ago my 1992 pre-cat. I had no issues with access, removing those two flathead screws allowed me to remove the motor straight away.
Perhaps it sounds obvious, but you have removed the glove box, right? That that gave me access pretty much straight through, it’s just to Allen head bolts either side of the bottom corners of the glove box on the inside.

Yes glove box was out, I think it is a slightly different setup on a 500. I got it apart, changed the cog around and it is more or less working properly now. A new cog will be something I need at some point.Perhaps it sounds obvious, but you have removed the glove box, right?
