Does anybody remember the shortened Minis which were knocked up some years back (1970s?) by chopping a couple of feet out of the floor pan, in particular the roofless ones? Any idea how the job was done, did they still have doors or were the apertures welded up, and does anybody have any links to articles?

Andy Saunders built a few radical bodied mini's. 2 of which were stump jobs.
There are some picts of them, along with his other handiwork here: http://www.andysaunderskustoms.co.uk/cars.htm

I wouldn't like to try to drive one downhill on a twisty road in the wet and in a hurry!

A friend of mine built one, its still around the Tamworth area I think.
It could do a figure of 8 on an average road, you had to make sure the brakes were both working absolutely the same or rather unstraight braking commenced and you didn't go out in the rain.
Other than that it was an absolute hoot.
