FFRR TDV8 Hesitant and Keeps cutting out
Discussion
Hi all would welcome some advice please.
My 2010 MY 4.4 TDV8 has developed a few issues.
Firstly, fuel gauge stopped working, probably dodgy sender unit, tank is full of fuel and managing it by watching the mileage. Today, I started the car and noticed on tick over the car is either misfiring or seemed hesitant with rev's fluctuating between 500 - 1000 RPM. Goes into gear okay and absolutely no engine management lights or other warnings on the dash. Car drives but again very hesitant, then after a while it cuts out dead. Starts again okay, goes along for so long, then cuts out again. Very hesitant but like a dodgy fuel injector like in the old TD6.
Any thoughts before I end up at the stealers?
Thanks
Horts

I had the fuel gauge problem with a MY11 4.4, apparently it's quite common. The fuel gauge failed a couple of times before it failed completely, and like you I continued driving. Then LR told me that even though there is fuel in the tank the engine management system won't think so and at any moment it could cut the engine. They told me to take it to the dealers. I was 45 miles away and it cut out on the motorway, straight in to limp mode before cutting out altogether. I had to be lowloaded back to the dealers. I think your two problems may be linked.

Thanks Phil, I think they are indeed connected, I have just got back in it and now she's running fine and the fuel gauge is working again!Just got to love electronics! She's off to the steelers on Wednesday lol.
