My fiancée has only been driving for a year and a half as lived in London for past decade, she's been driving an evoque for most of that time. She just drives around the suburbs with our baby and 9 year old.

I have fallen in love with an s class cabriolet but to get that id need to give my fiancée the L405 to drive as we need it for family trips.

I have to pay for repairs, so if she dings it it's my problem! She is a clam and a cautious driver which is to say she double checks and doesn't get panicked or rushed. So in most things I think she'd be ok, but let's face it an L405 is pretty damn big in the UK. Any thoughts or similar experience?

I'd say they're not really any more difficult than the Evoque due to better visibility, really.

My ex passed her test in a Fiat 500. First car I bought her was the P38. No probs 😀

Thanks for the comments, I think it's just that the car has been my 'baby' that I'm so nervous about it, but I think it's going to be OK.

Could you see it and get something a bit smaller?

I have one and it wouldn't be my choice as a London car especially if it's going to be going to supermarket carparks and the like on a regular basis.

I actually find mine easier to drive and park than the wife's MB E convertible, just from a visibility perspective. She'll be fine, and it is really easier to adapt and get used to, having previously had a Fiat 500 myself!

The L405 is a very easy car to place on the road, my wife has no issues at all. That said if she knows she is going to a tight supermarket or a multistory she will take my station car (i10), they are big and don't fit in standard parking spaces too well. Also the standard 20" alloys are very hard to kurb which is nice to know wink

Thanks for the advice. Was close to letting her have my L405 and then realised I love the car too much to let anyone else have it! It would be too upsetting if anyone were to curb those shiny 22" turbines whistle

Going to order her an L494 Sport instead as no need to have 2 x L405s. So hopefully she will get on well with that.

Probably I had with my L405 was the width. I think you'd be better served trading it on the new Velar if it's being used in London

We're not in London, in suburbs by the coast.

In any case I got her a Sport instead which is great.

L494 is just as wide . I would look at the velar its just the right size.

I have already bought her a L494! She loves it and no problems driving it.

So I think you were all right, the L405 would be fine too.
