Disco 2 TD5 or RR TD6
Discussion
A question to ask the PH LR forum....
I own a Disco 2 ES Premium on an 04 plate. A lovely Epsom Green car with 62,000 mile from new and full LR/genuine specialist history. Picked her up as a swapper at work a few years ago. Aside from a dodgy air bag - the Disco hasn't put a foot wrong in the 2 years i've owned the car.
I've got a customer part-ex coming in next month - a 50,000 mile, 1 owner L322 RR HSE TD6 with full LR service history from new on a 54 plate. Black, unmolested and close to Vogue spec.
We've given a good part-exchange price, but as a trade car it's massively tempting and well below what i would pay for an equivalent Range Rover with more miles.
What would you do......
Keep the Disco, which is a known quantity and probably one of the best examples out there, or move into a equally good L322?

100% keep the D2
It's the last of the line, and if in as good a nick as you describe (esp the low mileage) then it will go up in value.
Compare that with a non-Vogue RR TD6 with the rubbish GM 5 speed 'box. It probably does not even have sat nav & even less so a touch screen one so it is worth pennies.
All IMHO but I have had 3 each of both those & a TD6 FFRR is not worth a carrot.
However, you're not really comparing apples with apples but I still would stick with the D2!

Good debate/answers to give OP plenty of food for thought.
I would say that a late model D2 ES Premium is definitely the better investment over a HSE FFRR with nothing special (e.g. TDV8, S/C, Autobiography etc.) to say about it. Yes of course the ride is better but then again the FFRR has air on every corner.
Your choice OP but can't you have both

I'd go full fat RR. Interior is in a different league to the rather dated D2. Replacing the head unit shouldn't be underestimated. If it has the external amp, then budget a grand from an external company and I only found one company in the cu Nary who could do it even though I know enthusiast have swapped it it out with an android unit destined for an X5, it's not straight forward.
D2 head unit replacement is easy as yu can get an flip out screen unit, but you are still left with a fairly dated car.
