Yesterday I got a new key case. Removed the old stuff and put it all into the new case.

Went to car and the car will not unlock. Guess the batteries were out for more then 1 minute. I used the EKA code on the drivers door and that allowed me to start the car. Then I put the key in the drivers door with the unlock button held down and turned right until the light went out. I then repeated this with lock to the left.

Despite trying just about everything I still can't get the key to unlock remotely. This means I have to use the EKA code every time to start the car.

Any tips or ideas?

there has to be a guide somewhere. it is a procedure involving pushing buttons and pulling stalks in the car. a friend had a similar problem. unfortunately his memory is worse than mine. you could try ffrr , full fat range rover forum, you probably know it or youtube i would have thought.

I used to have a P38, isn't there something about having to put the key in the door lock and turn it multiple times left and right according to something in the manual??

Youtube probably includes standing on one leg as one way of doing it. Would live it with it but worried I will wear out the drivers door lock with entering the EKA everytime I get into the car.

I have read the handbook and thats not working.

New Batteries, Light on key flashes, EKA code stops engine disabled message. When holding the key down when turning right in door the LED flashes faster, still doesn't work if wait until the light goes out.

Weird as nothing has actually changed!

What year is you P38? IIRC early versions you need to do the following to sync the key fob:

1. Press down on lock button on fob.
2. Insert key into drivers door.
3. Turn to lock.
4. Turn to center.
5. Remove key from lock,.
6. Release lock button.
7. Press and hold unlock button.
8 Insert key into door.
9. Turn to unlock.
10. Turn to center.
11 Remove key from lock.
12 Release unlock button.

Well turns out the Key no longer works, I need to get Passive Immobilisation turned off but the local place wants, £40!! Its going to take longer for me to ask for it then do the work.

Therefor if anyone is wanting to do this for me for some cash I am around South East Wales and heading out to Oxford all day tomorrow. Once the car is sorted I will get a Nanocomm, but at the moment thats a lot money for a quick setting change.
