As per title, I'm considering a Range Rover as a dog/utility/snow vehicle and would like to go pre-March 2006 to get the cheaper VED. Which of the two is the better car or doesn't it really make any difference?
Ta.
I had a 54 plate Pre-face list with the touch nav. Ta.
It was a 4.4V8 on LPG and faultless for two years.
We also had a 55 plate SC in the business from new and it too was faultless.
The 4.4 (Jaguar engine) is by far the rarest, but a desirable purchase and almost trouble-free.
The 4.2 SC is highly addictive to own (I've owned mine for nearly 5 years) and far easier to source.
Either would fit your needs, so I would suggest looking for both and buying whatever meets your criteria (condition, price, colour, history, etc) when the right one comes along.

Best to go on condition really.
Both good cars.
But the 4.6 Rover based engine is a great bit of kit.
The BMW 4.4 has a reputation for rattling cam chains at high mileage.
Jaguar 4.2 is a pretty good bit of kit.
I have a 2007 4.2 SC, it has all the toys you could want.
I particularly like the updated controls.
The granddaughter loves watching TINYTOTS on the Digital TV on the way home from school!
The SC engine is just a joy to drive, very powerful.
Mine has LPG, so helps overcome the £535 road tax rip-off!
