I have a 2022 first edition sport.
when pressing the start button nothing happens
when I press it again after a lag (of the sort you used to get when plugs prewarmed say about 3/4 seconds it starts
after giving me slight palipations!
This only occurs when cold when hot it starts as it should
I have taken it into the dealer who has said it is the scorpion tracker but the fault actually occurred before the tracker was fitted
they now say the tracker needs to come out (at my cost) as they cannot gain access
I dont think it can be the tracker so I think removal is a bit of a red herring but to be fair no fault codes are showing
anyone got any thoughts please
thanks
Bob

My wife's Range takes a few seconds to start from cold sometimes, it's normal.

Is it a diesel? Maybe it's the glow plug pre-heater taking a few seconds in the winter. There may be some coding that stops the engine firing if the glow plugs are too cold?

yes its a diesel and I did wonder if that was normal however when I press first time and hold the button nothing happens
than I release try again and after a moment if fires up I am wondering whether just to live with it as the dealer is just running up a big bill and Im regretting taking it in although do understand there situation also

Are you supposed to press and hold? I've not driven the latest gen but all the previous versions it was just a (foot on brake) press and release and let the car sort itself out.

This is certainly true for our ‘21 model.

It's not a case of 'back when plugs needed heating' that's still the case with a diesel.

Ours is similar, but I can see ours is doing something as the guages spin round and illuminate and the glow plug symbol appears for a second or two. Is yours doing anything or everything remains off with no lights on the dash?

I do hold the button down for what should be long enough
If I release and then try again it does start so maybe its just the plugs heating period but I didnt think so
The dealer has not suggested this might be the case and they have found no fault so is it something I should just live with im beginning to think so

Sounds the same as most of the diesels I’ve driven when cold, you press the button and it’s 2/3 seconds before it cranks the starter motor, also happens in cars with a key ignition, turn the key and a lag before anything happens

Doesn’t seem to Happen in my petrol car

Just glow plugs warming up, don't hold the button, just press it and let go.

thank you I try to vary the procedure
I got it back today having had the tracker paused
it started first time but I really dont think its the tracker which is a Scorpion
they say I should have fitted a ghost tracker

I have tried the last couple mornings just press release and after a pause it starts
the tracker has been disabled so I will get it linked back again and see what happens
thank you for your comments
