2010 FFRR 5.0SC - tyres
Discussion
Hi all - whats the latets recommendation for tyres for these things. Will never see a field. 255/50R20
Have Conti CrossContacts at the moment.
Anything newer / better to be recommended? Michelin cross climate2? Do they last on such a heavy beast through summer (if we ever get one!)?
Thanks.

2012 L322 4.4L TDV8 here. I got fed up with swapping between summers and winters so I've been running Pirelli Scorpion All Seasons too, but not the Verde. The rating I saw gave the Verde lower scores so I've been using plain Scorpion All Seasons. They've lasted and performed really well in all conditions including ice, snow, grass, heavy rain and surface mud in the field.
One thing I have done is put on 255/55R20s instead of 50 profiles. It's made the ride even more comfortable on our pothole ridden local roads without affecting driving characteristics. Need to be a bit careful with the Speedo though as it now reads bang on the same as GPS up to 70 mph and about 1mph faster than GPS at above 70! I made the change at about 72k miles and have recently put the third set of 55s on at 135k miles. And I replace my tyres relatively early at around 2.5-3mm tread.

You have to be quite careful with tyres on the 5.0SC as in an ideal world, you need your tyres to allow for the fact that the L322 5.0SC has a top speed of 139mph. This certainly discounts a lot of the cheaper AT (Goodrich / General Grabber AT3) tyres.
I went with the General Grabber GT and so far they have been fine (About 2000 miles in), but being honest, tyres are the least of your issues if you own a L322....Don't ask me how I know!
