Range Rover Sport SV
Discussion
I have one, is it a bit of a thump from the rear, which is a bit louder than to be expected that particular bump in the road.
I also notice the carbon ceramics have an odd characteristic, a feeling of not amount of modulation can avoid them grabbing, which causes havoc with adaptive cruise

After reading a thread on range rovers.net, It would appear replacing the dampers have made little to no difference…
I wouldn’t describe it as a “popping noise”, more like a loud thud. I took a technician out in it and he agreed it didn’t sound right
However, they said that there is no current solution

I have a new SV
I have complains to the dealer and asked if I can return the car for a full refund.
It only has 400 miles on the clock, but I am fed up with the knocking sound or (popping sound) as JLR call it. They tell me it is not a fault but a characteristic of this model.
They even got another SV in on loan from Solihull to take me out in, to prove it was a characteristic of the model.
I don’t think when you spend £170,000 + on a car that you should have to put up with this knocking. They should advise you of this known problem before you buy the car.
Still trying to get them to take the car back and refund my money, but doesn’t look promising at the moment!

Yes. Mine has been in and out of the dealer since new (although for most of the first year I had thought the crashing suspension noise was down to the spare wheel being loose in the boot). Whatever work they do to it, it comes back worse and now also shows warnings on the dashboard. My wife refuses to travel in the car as she thinks it feels unsafe. I love the car but have had enough now, wouldn't expect this on a 10k car but this was almost £190k.
Sunbury have replaced the front suspension on my car, though I’m not sure why, as the person handling it wasn’t in today.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t made any difference. They also mentioned finding a loose shield on the rear, but fixing that didn’t resolve the noisy suspension either.
What’s more concerning is the intermittent knocking sound, which was the main reason I brought the car in.
I took their engineer out for a drive and he could hear it as well. I explained that it doesn’t seem like a suspension issue—it actually feels like it’s coming from under my left foot, possibly the transmission.
In any case, the problem is still there. I’ve got a four-hour drive tomorrow, so I’ll see how it goes and report back to them.
Either way, they were 100% more helpful than Guildford.

@caddyshack. No, this is a completely different fault only relevant to the SV model and it's 6D (McLaren style) suspension.
Yes, I got that…which is why I said the aluminium “doesn’t help” I think it can transmit noises that might normally have been ironed out.It seems the SV issue is known but they just can’t fix it, I wonder if it were steel they might be able to add rubber etc but with Ali it might not work…just a thought
The car is back and all is good at the moment — no issues.
The front knocking noise it went in for has been fixed (after turbo gate), though I couldn't get a straight answer out of them on what it actually was, so I gave up asking.
I'm also aware of the rear "popping" noise but If i'm honest i can live with it.
The main frustration has been the dealers. Sunbury were useless — dodged my calls constantly and I had to keep turning up in person just to get a straight answer.
