Hi

My RR P400 auto-stop start appears to not work at the moment . You can press the button, but not a lot happens. It also appears that the car engine cuts off when the car comes to a stop . Once you press the accelerator , you re good to go again. The climate function on the app doesn t work as you can t seem to keep the engine running. Has anyone experienced this before?

Edit - perhaps a battery problem?

Many thanks

In my experience, stop/start not engaging is an early sign of a decaying battery. Most cars with that feature have a process to determine whether the car is capable of a restart, if it stops, & if it decides the battery can't take it, it'll be deselected automatically.

As the previous poster said, the SS function is based on the car monitoring the battery condition and the loads upon it (lights, heaters, etc) and then deciding if the battery can take it.
You mention that the car shuts down at stop - this is correct. You don't decide when that happens simply by pressing the button. All pressing the button does is enable the SS process to happen, it does not immediately instruct an engine stop.
Climate control, is one of the things also factored in to the SS algorithm, and it will be working even if the engine is in stop mode. If you were stopped for long enough on a hot day you would see the engine restart after a while in order to keep the cabin cool.
Lastly, are you driving the car in ECO mode? If you are, then this also changes how the climate control works.

hope this helps

Edited to add that the SS on our LR behaves in just this way and its absolutely fine, but when it needed a new battery then the system never shut the engine off at all.
