Second time in 3 and a half years so now out of warranty. Is there an easy way to replace the battery and not having to get shafted by the dealer?

I have just picked up my Discover3 and was told only this morning that the car charged the key battery so there was never a need to change a battery?

Maybe that has come in recently???

Surely if you use it a bit it will charge up again?

No its completely dead so using it manually at the mo' and it's had plenty of time to charge up. This happened before during the car's warranty period and it took 3 months to order a new fob then time in the service dept to recode it.

I understand that I could be looking at £140 for a bleedin' key! Thus I was hoping that someone had found a hack or work around.

There is one for sale on ebay for a fiver. Phone a LR dealer and see how much they would charge to re-programme it.

If your good with a soldering iron just put two replacement batteries in it
The hard bit is getting them apart
You have to cut them...

Just buy a new battery and solder it in. You may also need a key case. There should be plenty change from £20

Not sure i understand, But below is the key fob i have for my sport. About a year ago it went completely dead it did not do anything , so i opened it and changed the round flat battery that was inside and has been perfect ever since.
